Welcome Students!
After a long, enjoyable summer, it's time to head back to school for another exciting year. I hope that each of you give this year the most you have and take advantage of all the opportunities that pass your way. Be sure to get involved in sports, clubs, and other extra-curricular functions offered at Laney. Take part in homecoming activities, athletic events, dances, club fair, spring fling, and other activities. You can also shine by excelling in academics. There are a number of academic clubs and competitions you can participate in at Laney. While you're meeting new friends and getting adjusted to your new schedule, take advantage of everything Laney has to offer. Most importantly, get involved!
Your friend, Liz Harris, Student Council President

Tasks:

  • Read the above letters by the principal and the student council president of Laney High School. What seems to be most important in their letters to the students?
  • Compare these letters with the philosophy of your school. What would you point out in a letter if you had to write one as the Schülersprecherin or Schülersprecher at your school?
