Ziemlich überraschend steht Hector, Bridgets ehemaliger Brieffreund aus Argentinien, bei Bridget und Annie vor der Tür. Hectors Englischkenntnisse lassen zu wünschen übrig, da sind Missverständnisse vorprogrammiert. Der Argentinier leistet sich einen „faux pas“ nach dem anderen und deshalb wollen ihn die beiden Mädchen am liebsten so schnell wie möglich loswerden. Aber dann entdecken sie eine andere Seite von Hector. Hector kann bleiben ...eine turbulente Zeit beginnt.

Bridget and Annie live together in London. Annie is in love with their neighbour Nick, but he’s in love with Bridget. A letter arrives, announcing the visit of an old friend.

Bridget receives a letter from Hector, her former pen-pal from Argentina. He announces his arrival for a visit on the 5th of November. Bridget and Annie are horrified as they realize that it’s already the 5th of November and the doorbell rings. However, it’s just Nick, the neighbour. He plays it cool and gazes at Bridget, who’s pedalling away on the exercise bike. Annie tells Nick about Hector’s imminent visit. When Nick climbs onto Bridget’s exercise bike, she throws him out.

There’s a knock at the door and Hector is standing there. He’s wearing a black suit, a black hat and glasses. Both girls seem disappointed. Hector tries to introduce himself, but his English is not particularly good. The girls correct him, but are quickly annoyed.

Annie mails Nadia and Bridget mails Chrissy about Hector’s arrival and Nick’s visit. There is a world of difference in their opinions about the two boys.

Hector shows Bridget and Annie photos from Argentina. They give him the sofa-bed to sleep on and retire to the bathroom to discuss what to do with the strange guest.

Nick comes through the door and Hector initially thinks he’s the butler. They check each other out. Bridget and Annie come out of the bathroom and leave the flat, ostensibly to go shopping for food. Bridget suggests that Nick teach Hector English.

A slightly jealous Nick mails his friend Dan and tells him about Hector.

Nick teaches Hector wrong words and prompts him to test his fitness on Bridget’s exercise bike. When Annie and Bridget get back, Hector goes for a shower. Bridget is very angry that he used her bike and wants to throw him out. Annie suggests that Hector move in with Nick.

Hector comes freshly-showered out of the bathroom. The girls are waiting for him to throw him out, but are lost for words at the sight: Hector is only wearing a towel. Nick intervenes and ushers Hector into the bathroom. He’s read the magazines that portray Hector and his rich family. Hector admits he’s been trying to keep it quiet, as he wants to make real friends. Nick says he can move in with him.
